We bought our first home a few years ago. New to the experience we were naive to any of the process. We put trust in our realtor to give us a fair deal. Our realtor suggested a guy they knew and we took their advice and requested an inspection.

The report came back positive with minor defects.

After we moved in we discovered holes in the walls and floors covered by furniture, both toilets had sunk into the floor and were unstable, what was chipped paint turned into an entire rotted wall, the septic tank connected to a RV drainage hose, septic system was plugged, electrical connections with extension cords in the breaker box.

Thousands of dollars in repairs that our inspector said were ok.

The inspector relationship with realtors should be at arms length. We found that the suggested inspector favoured the realtors needs and not ours to continue further work from the realtor.
